Teens and Dating
INTRO PACKAGE:
For the next few days, I will be talking about issues effecting teenagers. I am beginning this three-part series by going directly to the source and asking local teenagers their perspective on such issues as dating and technology. I was surprised to learn that these are not separate issues. That technology is now influencing how they date and the relationships they develop. Take a look!

I am joined by Kathleen Fisher, an expert on teenagers and founder of Kids at Heart. She is here to provide her perspective on today’s teenagers and how parents can bridge the gap when relating to issues such as dating and technology.
QUESTIONS:
- Let’s talk a little about the group dating dynamic. I think some parents feel at ease knowing that there is safety in numbers. Is that assessment correct?
- We talked a lot about teenagers and technology. I was surprised to learn that texting is playing a significant role in relationship development. What is your perspective on this?
- What are some concrete things that parents can do to open up a dialogue with their kids about dating, sex and the responsible use of technology?
