Changing Careers is Difficult
Changing careers is difficult — more so than changing jobs within your established field. I’m in my late 30’s and in a position of having to prove my worth. In addition, letting go of such perks as a title, a parking spot, an office with a real door, a staff, an expense account, and a secretary is painful. The most difficult part for me is no longer being perceived as a leader. It’s understandable why people choose to remain in a career path that is no longer satisfying or challenging versus having to undergo the painful process of paying dues.
