Autism
INTRO:
Autism affects 1 in every 150 children. This equates to almost 10,000 children in Dallas Fort Worth, with numbers growing by as much as 17% annually. These statistics become very real when introduced to children and families who have been personally touched by this painful disability.
Judith Ursitti, mother of three-year-old Jack, is here to discuss the warning signs of Autism and how organizations such as the DFW Center for Autism are helping these families find hope.
QUESTIONS:
- Tell me a little about Jack?
- What were some of the warning signs Jack exhibited?
- Did you recognize these signs and when was he diagnosed?
- I know there is no cure for Autism. However, what can be done to improve a child’s quality of life when a diagnosis is made?
- You have what you have described as “Sunshine Moments”. Can you tell me a little more about that?
- How has the DFW Center for Autism helped your family manage Jack’s autism?
- I understand that the DFW Center for Autism is hosting the “Power of Texans” 5 K Run this weekend. Can you tell me more about that?
