Today, I am interviewing a remarkable man named Jay Armstrong. Confined to a wheelchair since birth, Jay Armstrong has never let his cerebral palsy slow him down. At the age of nine, he wrote a book titled “A Day with Jay” that provided a personal perspective about what it was like for him to enter into kindergarten within the confines of his wheelchair. He put the book in a drawer and did not return to it until decades later. Now it is published and provides kids (and parents alike) some perspectives on ways to interact with people with disabilities.
The Fort Worth Star-Telegram recently did an article called “Different Like Me” which highlighted several children books that embrace themes of disabilities. You can read the article at . Check it out!
